George Keller, a pioneer in chemical separations work, has been honored by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers' Centennial Celebration Committee as one of the "100 Distinguished Chemical Engineers of the Modern Era."
The honor has been extended to only 100 chemical engineers of the more than 100,000 members of the institute over the last century, making it one of the most prestigious technical awards in the chemical engineering field.
Keller had a distinguished 36-year career in Union Carbide Corp.'s Research and Development Department, where he led the Separations and Process Fundamentals Skill Center. A number of technologies were commercialized from this group. Keller is widely known as an expert in separation science and technology and is co-author of an authoritative book on the subject.
Keller is co-founder of the Mid-Atlantic Technology Research and Innovation Center, also known as MATRIC. He serves on the organization's Executive Committee and Board of Directors and is its chief engineer. MATRIC is headquartered at the South Charleston Technology Park.
