MATRIC has offices and laboratories in the West Virginia Education, Research and Technology Park, a location well suited for research and development activities. The site is occupied by Dow Chemical, Bayer MaterialScience, and other technology-based organizations. At the site are located several major R&D buildings, an engineering building, a data center, and pilot plant facilities.
Building 740, a five-story office and laboratory building, is where MATRIC has located its R&D operations. MATRIC laboratories support research in areas such as polymer chemistry, separations technology, process development and scale-up, product formulation, biomass conversion and alternative fuels.
In addition, MATRIC shares laboratories in Building 740 with West Virginia State University. These labs are well equipped with analytical instruments and are capable of supporting research in chemistry and biotechnology.
MATRIC has cooperative research agreements with the University of Charleston, West Virginia University Institute of Technology, and West Virginia State University. These agreements provide shared access to laboratories, facilities and equipment with each organization, including laboratories at the Technology Park and on each campus.
MATRIC also has an office on the Morgantown campus of West Virginia University, providing for close interactions between MATRIC personnel and university staff and students.
With these physical resources, MATRIC is well prepared to take on R&D projects from small-scale, early stage research to product and process development activities, as well as scale-up and continuous operations.
