How may I apply for possible employment at MATRIC?
You may submit your resume and qualifications in electronic format at any time to our "mycareer" e-mail address. This will serve as your application, and you will be contacted if further information is required. If an appropriate position is not currently available, your application will be kept on file for a period of one year. If necessary, your information may be sent by mail to Careers at MATRIC, P.O. Box 8361, South Charleston, WV 25303.
What types of jobs are currently available within MATRIC?
Brief descriptions of current openings are posted and frequently updated on our "careers" page.
In what technical areas can MATRIC help me?
The major business areas within MATRIC are Chemical and Environmental Technologies (focusing on project areas related to the chemical industry, industrial processes, and biomass conversion), Advanced Engineering Systems (with a focus on software systems), and Health and Life Sciences (with an emphasis on understanding biological processes and systems). Staff at MATRIC have a wide range of capabilities, and individual skills and experience can be reviewed on our staff page. Contact information is provided for many of these people.
How can I investigate a possible collaboration or project with MATRIC?
Staff at MATRIC will work with you following the steps described here. We will meet with you to gain a better understanding of your needs and help define the potential project and its value. If desired, a non-disclosure agreement will be executed to protect your interests. If there is a mutual interest in proceeding, we will then prepare a proposal for your evaluation. When the proposal is approved and a research agreement is developed, we will assemble an experienced team to begin the project. We will conduct your research, analyze the findings, and provide you a report of the results. We will then continue to work with you as needed to provide you with the most value from the project. See our "Introduction to MATRIC" and "Working with MCR" pages for more information.

If my company funds a project within MATRIC, what are the intellectual property considerations?
Projects with commercial organizations are conducted within MATRIC's wholly-owned subsidiary, Mid-Atlantic Commercial Research (MCR). We realize that there are many different situations and needs regarding intellectual property, so it is important to maintain flexibility in these arrangements. MCR is willing to explore a number of options, including those in which MCR owns all intellectual property and provides a license to the client for an agreed-upon period of exclusivity, MCR assigns ownership of all intellectual property to the client in accordance with a research agreement, or the client and MCR share ownership of the intellectual property and manage it together. See our page on Working with MCR for more information.
Are the lab technician positions available now? If not, when?
MATRIC is currently accepting resumes for technician positions expected to become open later this year. Exceptional candidates who are immediately available will be considered for a possible fit with current programs.
Is MATRIC involved in any research in computational biological sciences?
Not currently, but this is an area of interest to us.
Will an industrial fire protection facilities design position be needed in the immediate future?
We do not foresee such a position opening up in the near future.
Do you anticipate a need for an individual with NASA safety, occupational health and/or emergency management experience?
Yes, we anticipate a need for an individual with NASA safety, occupational health and/or emergency management experience within this calendar year and would be open to reviewing any resume with these credentials.
