Dr. Nye Clinton has broad experience in the development and commercialization of chemical process technologies. He joined Union Carbide at Tarrytown, N.Y., where he rose to the level of Associate Director of R&D. While at Tarrytown he was the Technology Manager for Glycol Ethers, UCON Fluids and Lubricants, Ethyleneamines applications, Ethanolamines, Amerchol, Heat Transfer Fluids, Gas Treating, and Aircraft Deicers. He also had responsibility for management of the Bound Brook pilot plant and analytical group. Dr. Clinton led the joint development (with General Motors and DuPont) of synthetic lubricants that allowed the auto industry to convert to ozone friendly air conditioning refrigerants. Dr. Clinton was then given responsibility for the R&D portion of the Industrial Performance Chemicals (IPC) Group with the added responsibility for CARBOWAX, Surfactants, Ethanolamines, Alkyl Alkanolamines, and Ethyleneamines. With this new assignment, he moved to South Charleston as Associate Director of R&D, while serving as a member of the IPC Strategic Management Team. Dr. Clinton has published numerous papers, made many technical presentations, and authored or coauthored review articles, chapters in books, and entries in encyclopedias on poly(ethylene glycols), as well as being coauthor of the book “Handbook of Quenchants and Quenching Technology”. Dr. Clinton joined MATRIC in December, 2004 and has worked on two major projects helping customers develop proprietary and innovative chemical processes. He received a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Massachussetts and did post-doctoral research at Indiana University and the University of California, La Jolla.
