Over a career of more than 35 years, Dr. Richard Gerkin has conducted research and development for Union Carbide, Witco and Crompton Corporation, attaining rank of Corporate Fellow with Crompton. Responsibilities included new product programs in all segments of urethane technology including coatings, elastomers and foams. His areas of interest include understanding structure/property relationships in these complex systems, and on how the various intermediates affect overall processability. Dr. Gerkin is also President of Transparent Armor, LLC, a MATRIC spin-off. He received his BS in Chemistry from Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, WV and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
