Donald L. Bunning is a corporate fellow, responsible for [process development activities; starting with conceptual process development and continuing to lab and pilot studies to further the development to commercialization. He joined AVN in 2005. Since then, he has done various studies with heterogeneous catalysts (especially hydrogenations), separations systems, designing/building/operating continuous lab and pilot testing facilities, scale-up, evaluations of proposed new processes, and work with kinetic modeling, reaction engineering, and experimental design/analyses. Prior to joining AVN, he worked for Union Carbide starting in 1970 and transitioned to DOW with the merger in 2001. He retired from DOW in 2004 but continued consulting for DOW in 2005. He was a senior group leader and technology manager for Union Carbide’s Solvents and Intermediates, and Specialty Chemicals.

Mr. Bunning holds 35 patents, is a registered professional engineer and earned the AVN Star Award as well as various UCC awards. He received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois and a master of science degree in chemical engineering from West Virginia University.
